so I just picked up a Megan turbo type catback exhaust. Its a full 3 inch with a 4 inch outlet. This bolts right up to my current downpipe correct? I read it does but I just wanna make sure.

It should. You might need to bugger with it a little bit to sit just right. I got the Megan dp with the type 2 black exhaust, and put the catback up just before I took the stock dp out. It fit just right.

You will love the sound btw, great exhaust.
