    1st post my blue 2003 WRX Td04 vs TD05H 16G

    Hello I am jonathon im 23. I traded in my 1996 VW GTI VR6 for my 2003 WRX. I have had civics ( 1993 civic hatchback, 1996 civic si coupe) 1998 eclipse GST and the WRX smacks them all.
    I have done my research and read many people talk about the TD04 vs TD05H 16G. we all know that the stock turbo is smaller so it spools earlier at lower rpms. Many have said they miss the early spool and others have said 16g creats a lot more power. My question is strictly my own. If I were to change my TD04 turbo for the bolt on TD05H 16G and not change my injectors or boost how would my car drive? Itís the 2.0 EJ205. Many say the spool is later but you gain top end. Next question you may ask is me is what do I want a dragster or street car do I race? Itís a street car just would like to cruise get little more power. So any suggestions would be GREAT!!! Also this would just be my 1st action plan for cold air intake and changing injectors. But your response of changing the turbo without changing boost and injectors and what tune to use Protune??

    welcome jonathon.

    so, is the car stock as far as engine mods are concerned?

    if so, i wouldnt do a turbo swap right away.

    get a turboback exhaust, catless uppipe [asap] and a tune. that should keep you pretty happy.

    do you have tools, a garage, friends & some beer? lol the TBE install is pretty simple. UP might be a little more difficult though. im honestly not sure how much it would cost to pay someone to do it. i've always been a DIY kinda person

    my buddie has tools he pretty much did the most of the work on my (VW)VR6. I do my own body work with all my civics and my gst blitz kit. but working on engine and exhaust havent had the expierence. do it yourself sounds great but ive had my share of mess ups with my gst and civics with friends that have decent knowledge and this time i want it done prof right. plus its alot cheaper for civics and eclipse.
    1 plus thing im still under warranty 2 and half years left.
