    The 08 can come alive with a down pipe and a tune. Cheapest route would be a used down pipe and an open source tune. Could be done for ~500 if you get good deals on both.

    WRX or 2.5i?

    Not much will help the latter shy of a motor swap, you're better off sticking to handling mods and making your car fast in the corners.

    Good point, I always assume that it's a WRX given the club name, but there are a lot of NA's that show up (not that there's anything wrong with that).

    If it's a 2.5i a downpipe won't work for you ;-) And as EJ257 says handling will be your key. Any negligible gains power wise will be high $$$ for low returns.
