    Hatchback Phobia

    Hello,

Since my induction into the subie nation it seems there is a stigma against hatches. While my first choice was to get a Bug , blob , and hawkeyes , I wanted something with a warranty.

Is the new Toyota era WRX frowned upon by the Rex nation?

I am unaware of any such nation. These are mass produced Japanese cars, nothing more.

That said, the 5 door hatch is the most practical body style for a car.

I've never seen any type of negativity towards the hatches specifically. Some people prefer previous body styles over the newer ones, and some people just don't like hatches, but there hasn't been any sort of specific dislike towards us hatch owners.

Ummm, I like the hatches! I first fell for the WRX when I saw the first wagons come over - what a great sleeper. Now, with the 2011 widebody treatment, they look absolutely bada$$. Still - each to their own.

    Hatches/wagons are for soccer moms

Kidding aside, I wouldn't want a wagon, but I can see their usefulness in other people's situations. There are definitely times I wish I had more cargo room, but it's rare enough that I'm happier with a sedan.

I actually used to not like the hatchback at all when I first saw the 08s...but now they are growing on me pretty strong. I'll have my sedan until I die (thats just it'll take me that long to pay off lol) maybe I'll get the g/f into a hatch :P

I like hatches, but I much prefer the GD sedans. I almost bought a 2011 hatch, but the look was just too generic for me.

2 reasons to buy a hatch... 1) I can fit my dog cage, all my camping supplies, fire wood, and the girlfriend in the car. 2) It's way more embarrassing for the Mustang, Civic, RSX, Camaro, and occasional Corvette, that just got whooped on by a wagon
