New '11 WRX owner = WOW.

    Hey everyone,
Im from NJ and just got this car in silver... it surpassed ALL of my expectations (except for maybe the horrible cheap plastics in the interior) and is such a blast to drive around! I just got it yesterday and already racked up 300 miles . Just a quick question... is there confirmation on a "babying" method for the break in period since it seems to be a very controversial subject. Only thing that sucks is the gas mileage lol averaging about 17 mpg every tank (although I guess I am beating on her pretty good). Will definitely post pics up soon guys.. I'm glad to join this site!

    Welcome

There's multiple theories to engine break-in. Subaru has their own. Personally, I'd follow their recommendation.

Your mileage should get better as you break it in - most see in the 21 to 24 range. As for break-in - not much reason to ignore the factory recommendations. There are some who have other theories, but even if they were right the benefits are minimal in the real world. I'd rather ease it in and have it last - years of fun sounds like what I paid for. (It's possible I may have taken it up to near redline several times under 1000K, but nothing abusive - moderation, ya know!)

I'm in Voorhees, not too far from you.

My car is running a stg1 tune via Cobb AP, Nameless Performance axleback exhaust, rally armor mud flaps, hella supertones, prosport boost gauge in an SMYcluster, awesome driver/owner . Basically just a few small mods, nothing too impressive here.

Are you planning on doing anything to yours?

I have a question about the hella supertones and since you have them might as well ask you lol. How do you like the sound of them as compared to the stock horn? I keep trying to find videos on youtube and everything i find the video is either terrible and the sound sucks or they just walk around the car like 5 times for no reason. Another question are they easy to install? I have a red wrx and feel like they would look awesome behind my grill, but I would want to install them myself.

Got a whole lot of Jersey guys on here it seems we should set up a meet somewhere and go for a cruise one day this summer or something. Ya know once my car gets back from the body shop which the waiting is killing me . People think waiting to get their new car is tough try buying one and 3 weeks later having a tree fall over it and then have it at the body shop for the next 2 1/2 weeks not fun let me tell you lol

I wouldn't say installing the supertones is easy...but not terribly hard either. I think there is a wiring harness you can buy for them rather than making your own. If you'd like to make your own, follow the link in my sig

The install isn't the easiest, but it's not hard.

Personally I bought the Subimods harness just to make life easier, and added an inline fuse. Just make sure you have a good ground and all will be fine.

As far as the tone goes, it's not the greatest, but that's not why I bought them. They are loud as anything and people will hear you. I definitely recommend them.

I'm actually in the process of starting a local weekly meet, so hopefully I'll be able to post up the info on here in a week or two and get it started.

Stg1 is the best thing I have done to my car. The mpgs are about the same, but the power out put is way better. I absolutely love it.
