Hello All - Second Impreza - First WRX

    Hey All,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been lurking for a few weeks and I really like what I'm seeing on these forums next to some other WRX sites i've been visiting, so I thought I'd finally register and make a post.

I'm a proud new owner of a 2011 WRX Premium Sedan - Pearl Black. I had been driving a 2008 base Impreza for the last 3 years and my lease was up and I decided on the WRX now that I have the means. Man oh man this car is fun and a bit more punch than the base version!!

I'll be reading some of the great sticky FAQs found here and I'm really excited to learn as much as I can about this beautiful car and platform. I probably wont mod her much until after the warranty is up...But first things first: TINT!

See you guys on the threads,

    Joe in CO

Hey whats up... I just joined also after a week of reading up.

Very nice car. I really like the rims also for stock. I need to get some new ones but they are kinda low on my list right now. Tint was the first thing I got also.

I used to live in Aurora, CO and I still go back there to visit family.

Greetings and welcome to the Club Joe!

I hear you on the snow. We are getting more snow (and ice) than usual here and more is coming this weekend.

Love the new car...I'm in IL where we just got 20 inches...and get 12+ regularly...I'm thinking about getting an '11 WRX and was wondering about how the stock tires fare in the snow? The subaru website says they are summer tires, so I'm assuming I'd need to get a set of winter tires while I'm at it?

Yes. Summer tires are worthless in the winter, especially in snow.

that's what I thought. What about the wheels? Can you just get snow tires and keep the same wheels year round, or do you need a different set up all together?

Welcome Joe! Pretty sedan you have there. I don't dig the new hatches, but the 11 sedan is pretty good looking!

Whereabouts in colorado are you at?

Picked up my car on a Monday. Drove it in a snowstorm on Tuesday, picked up snow tires on Wednesday. The stock summer tires are terrible for snow. I ended up putting the winter tires on the stock wheels but I plan on picking up a set of steelies for next winter. Just didn't have the funds for them right now.

Congrats, that is a beautiful ride! Thanks for posting pics, I'm hoping to order a new sedan at some point this year and have been torn between the dark grey and the black, I think yours has sold me on the black though- it looks mean, and I'm sure it will look even better when you get it tinted!

Thank you Sin and will do. I'm in the Littleton/Highlands Ranch area. I've always liked the sedans a bit more myself as well.

Thanks Rholman! I'm glad I could help . I'll post some better pics if it EVER stops snowing here.

Yep these summer tires are worthless for sure on the snow. I had a hard time even turning around on my damn street in these things. Winter tires are definitely a must.

Thanks again all for the warm welcome.... T-minus 350 miles til break in is over
