    newbie subbie

    Hi,

Got a used 2009 wrx last week after 6 years of driving my 05 mustang gt mostly with the rains in Seattle and snows on winter. I have a question though about the gas, I know it's a 91 octane but I think there are gas that are (i dont know, not that refined?). One time I fill it up with a Safeway gas 92 octane but really feels delayed in terms of acceleration. Chevron gas seemed really great. Is there such a thing and did you had this feeling or just my imagination? My buddy doesn't think that way.

I've owned several cars, this has been my favorite, and my 98 eclipse GSX with AWD.

Welcome. I buy gas based on price alone.

Maybe. I know Safeway uses Arco gas which has caused problems in my parent's cars in years past. I don't know about now though. I generally avoid Arco, but since they're aren't any around me, it's pretty easy. Chevron gas is fine, so is Shell, but I usually use 76, it's close by and cheap. There's a ton of threads on here already about gas brands. Search around and welcome to the club!

congrats on the purchase. post some pics. you wont be the guy sliding down the hill in those awesome youtube vids from seattle!

as far as the gas is concerned, theres a lot of dudes on this forum that are super knowledgable about that kind of stuff b/c of their jobs, but from what i have read on other posts, most of the gas at nearly all the gas stations comes from the same place. there is a possibility that the gas was older, or there was a "bad batch" i guess.

    welcome!

Greetings and welcome to the Club!

Jeremy Clarkson lives in Seattle and drove a Mustang?

Gas comes from your regional refinery(ies?), so it is likely all the same stuff. The differences could be beneficial additives Chevron puts in the gas and Safeway does not. From what I have read no name gas rarely gets these additives.

haha..dude I saw that video. If snow comes I'd rather stay home. I have an 09 forester too, its really great in snow but what are you gonna do if the cars before you were stuck?

I've read about its the additive that each company had on them makes it different. Like Chevron with Techron..etc..I'm just not sure.
