ok so this morning on my way i this lil jersey ****...jerkiin with me for about 5 miles 6 stoplights trying to get a street race. dude in a grey porsche(RUFF prob 500+hp plate RUFFWON) me in the Suby...so the light changes and i just move on my way to work(theres a time and a place and its not now), he gets popped by the popo. . .hehe stupid dumass i hope they pull his liscense = my good karma

I'm 45 & I just got an '11 4 door... My last car was an '03 Mazda 6S Sport. I drove that thing harder than most people that were "less mature" than I was & they were in "sportier" cars...

I started this thread between I am stuck between several cars, with some being more "sophisticated" (read douchey) than others. Incidentally, they are also more expensive so I will have to go used. The car will be driven hard so it's not just all for show, but needs to be reliable enough to be a daily driver and cheap enough so that I'm not spending $1000 a month on repairs. occasional mod expenses are fine though

I also live in southern california, and while i am well out of my college times, i can say, driving around, i dont really get any attention, positive or negative. the only people who react to my car are people who know about cars.

i think you should just tint your windows so no one can perceive anything in the car at all

on a lighter note, when i told my mom that i was thinking about buying a subaru, she asked me with a straight face if i was a lesbian. and now she calls my car the lesbaru, as in "oh you and your wife are going out of town for the weekend? what are you going to drive, your lesbaru?" followed by some giggling and my dad laughing in the background.

you should not care what other people think about you drive, unless you drive a volkswagen cabriolet, then you should care.

I don't think anyone around here really knows what the wrx/sti is... it's not like many people know about it. It seems like people entirely go by what looks fastest, etc. (at least in my generation). I've gotten no particular looks or anything other than friendly waves and such from subie owners.

Every time I'm driving around my gf and she sees a corvette, it's "sexy car". It's not her in particular, but everyone - they couldn't care less what was under the hood - a lambo or porsche with a 1.5l NA would still be the best car in the world.

And that's why there are so many riced civics and tC's around.

I will not let myself get into that - hey, if you recognize my car for what it is, you'll probably recognize me for who I am, and if not, what does it matter to me?

Automotive brand recognition is a funny thing, isn't it? Most of my "in-real-life" friends are not car enthusiasts..the idea that my Subaru wagon could destroy a Porsche 924 in a quarter mile race wouldn't seem believable to them..."But it's a Porsche.."
