any more info on the having a blown turbo seal? does it hurt any other parts except the turbo? ive read that its best to just replace the whole turbo? and since im doing that is there any different turbo i should maybe upgrade it too while ive got that one out of there? or is it best to stick with that stock one? the car also seemed to have a really slight shake while you were sitting at idle that i noticed? is this normal or probably something to do with the engine light??

well the engine light is a cylinder 2 and 4 misfire, compression test showed low compression on i think those two cylinders i think the numbers were like 140 on the good ones and around 120 on the bad? so its in the shop getting the valves redone, anything else i should look out for once its done at the shop???

I'd be very concerned about the condition of the rings also.

Beings the car had been very modified, odds are very high it was driven hard too.

I'm no subaru expert but I do have years and years of automotive background, and am no stranger engines.

If you got it cheap enough to be able to rebuild / put in a used engine then you'll be in good shape no matter what happens.

It could be. I'd check the valves as well. A stuck valve (usually from carbon buildup) could be the culprit for low compression... definitely not uncommon for an 9 yo car. I'd run some Seafoam through and repeat the compression test. Better yet, take it to the shop and get a full leakdown test performed

It may have been driven hard, but there is no mention of extensive mods

If the block is good, just rebuild the internals. I don't see any merit to replacing the full longblock unless your heads are bad and your block is bad. There's no point in replacing a perfectly good block (unless you're going for a hybrid 2.5 build, that is).

How much money is this guy selling the car for?

I would offer 3000$ less then whatever he wants. Sounds like it will need a lot of work. Pay no more then 4000-5000$ for this car.

If you really want a bugeye there is an unmodified one here in ABQ being sold for 6000$. My tuners co-worker is selling it and my tuner says it is stock.

It amazes me how well the WRX's seem to hold their values. That's awesome.
