summer/all-season (what are wrx's coming with nowadays anyway?) tires just LOVE a ton of snowfall - so much so that they lose nearly 100% of their traction qualities. Start up on a nice patch of heavy snow/ice, rev hard and drop the clutch. You'll sit there all day! Plus, since it's cold, it'll take longer to overheat both your engine AND your tires will never die!
The 2011 WRX's come with Dunlop SP Sports (01A's??). It's a pure summer tire.

Your Subaru is specifically designed to not lose traction. So trying to make it lose traction on purpose just to spin the wheels is about as logical as using chicken wire as a windshield. It's not going to work very well and chances are if you continue to try, you'll end up very unhappy.

No joke! OP wants to do smokey burnouts in his new AWD subaru and I think he just needs more practice. I think he just need to set his mind to it and he'll accomplish his goal.

since your obviously hoping to get someones attention with the noise of the tires......and not your keen sense of humor or big muscles. just be a real cool kid and make your wheels howl while recklessly endangering anyone around you and/or their property by doing 80 mph turning left at a green traffic light. WIN!!

    i honestly hope you don't do this^^^

It is sort of easy for many to get sucked in to the mindset of ignorant people who think that if you can't spin wheels easily, you must have a weak/slow car. Just take comfort in the fact that you know better.

My head literally hit the desk upon reading the title and first post.

yeah - if you can't spin the tires in a fwd car, you must have a 50hp engine. rwd - about 200-300, and awd about 700 (using average tires). People aren't used to awd, I guess..

I have a car with twice the HP and the power primarily fed to tires with about twice the surface area of yours, but with way higher traction due to the tread compound and I still have a hard time spinning them. Just don't do it.
