I'm 21 and don't have a clean record. My '11 is under my name and my own insurance. $300/mo. I didn't think that was that bad until I saw what y'all were paying

How old is that? got the hp and 0-60 times all boogered up. Oh well.

32, clean but not squeaky record .. Virginia beach Va ..
    $97/mo. via Geico.

Now when I got quoted for the sti.. all other factors the same it was $1760/6 mo.

so I came home with a 2010 obp standard wrx instead of the wrb 10 sti I had my mind set on.

Oh well, by the time I'm looking for another vehicle I'm sure my insurance will be reasonable for the sti.

edit: oh, forgot to add.. have 500k in liability coverage... 300k in uninsured motorist (I dont trust anyone) .. and $50 deductibles across the board

ditching the twenties has its perks lol

I'd love to have a young female...

    wait..

uhm.. thats not what we were talkin about.. lol.. srry.. got sidetracked

A older STI would have been closer to my current plans cost.. but the brandy new one was much higher. Apparently the "kids" like to crack em up around here. Sucks...but true. Its also different across different insurance companies too. I didn't have the time to shop around so I stuck with my prior company. I will add though, that the 2010 wrx was CHEAPER than my 07 base model toyota corolla.

Insurance companies LOVE to bend me over.

    2006 Subaru WRX Limited

    18 clean record
    State Farm : $280/month
    Allstate : $425/month
    Geico : $315/month.

When I had my 1999 Ford Ranger 3.0 2wd STD cab XL...
    State Farm : $250/month
    Allstate : $189/month
    Geico : $225/month.

Go figure. All I know is, that I am lucky to have a great job (while I'm in college). Otherwise, there is not a snowball's chance in hell that I would be able to afford to drive ANYTHING.

    Any thoughts?

Unfortunately until 25.. insurance just sucks no matter what you drive. Have to remember though, we have it for a reason and when you come across that reason its really nice to be able to turn to your insurance company and have them take care of the bill. Especially if by some act of whatever you tap someon's rear or damage property. It can happen, even if your sitting at a light and somone rear-ends you.. if they push you into the car ahead you're responsible for those damages (messed up isn't it?) .. so.. even though its expensive in the early years it balances out as you mature.

gettin old is only a state of mind.. and aging has its perks lol

I have found more than anything its all about location, and not necessarily for the reasons you would think either. When I moved from my parents house in the middle of nowhere to my old rental in the ghetto, my insurance went down ~$20 a month to which I was like . I'm in the ghetto and definitely more likely to have a claim here.

Then fast forward a few years and I buy a house in a really nice more expensive neighborhood with virtually 0 crime. My policy goes up ~$30 a month.

Driving record remained the same, it didn't matter what company cause I called them all. What really pisses you off is when you are on the phone with the person and give them a different zipcode mid quote and the price goes down or up accordingly.

So this made me wonder. On my old MC I was paying ~$1000 a year for insurance at my house which is pretty much what the online calculator reflected. I started punching in different random zip codes to see the differential.

If I lived in Albany, NY my MC insurance would have went down from $1000 a year to $300 a year same coverage.

In the end its all a big scam.

    Right there with you!
18 years old, 3 Points on my license due to a total. My insurance just now dropped to $220/month. On my own plan as well, just blessed with a good job to afford the car&insurance!

    Good link...very interesting.

The renewal for my WRX with Geico just came up...$220/6 months for low mileage, leisure use, and a multi-car discount. No complaints here but I have a clean record and don't submit claims if they are relatively low value and my fault, e.g. my wife had a little parking garage mishap yesterday () and we are paying out of pocket although it is more than our deductible.

    Great link indeed!

I had this whole conversation with my insurance agent last month. He explained to me how insurance companies issue cars ratings based on tons of statistics. He then explained how his G8 GXP was rated an 18 but our cars are rated 23, one of the highest ratings he had ever seen. Haaa, i guess that falls right in line with that link.

Totally worth it to me tho I am 26, married, wife drives a 98 eclipse and combined its about 150 a month. Buuuut I also had a DUI 6years ago and two speeding tickets about 4years ago...dunno if any of those are still showing or not.
