    Downpipe question

Just bought 2002 wrx, and the downpipe needs to be replaced. Want to get an after market, but computer would need recalibration. Is that a service ever offered at dealerships or garages?

    Why?

Want to get an after market, but computer would need recalibration.
No, it won't. You can use another downpipe on your car. You will need to either replace with OEM or deal with the CEL, but it's feasible and you'll be fine.

Is that a service ever offered at dealerships
I'm assuming you mean the downpipe replacement, not the remapping of the computer.
    With OEM, yes.

    or garages?
    Yes.

It's not hard to DIY either.

SD brings up some good points. Please answer his questions.

Here is a set of uppipe/downpipe install instructions.

Here's a video Grimmspeed did for the uppipe install.

I'd also like to stress the importance of the uppipe mod on 02-05 WRX's. Please read this.

Thanks a lot for the reply's
So...with a after market downpipe, will not need one of those Cobb access ports that are like $600?

02/03 WRX's do not require tuning, but if you want to get any of the performance gains that a downpipe opens up, you will need tuning of some sort.

However, installing and driving on your vehicle will not harm it.
