Hi. Just finished all my schooling and needed a car. So I bought a 2004 WRX. Here are some pics of it when I picked it up at the dealer.

Should be a nice bible to start off with. Not necessary to read front to back, but useful nonetheless.

Do you have a list of all the mods that have been done to it? Looks like a decent amount. Possible FMIC there? Not sure.

less possible fmic and more there's an fmic right there

I'd take it to a subaru performance shop or tuner nearby and get it inspected - get a list of mods so you at least know where you're starting. At that point you can either sell off some of the power or keep it... I'd keep it, as long as everything checks out. If it's not been tuned for the setup, not only would I tune it, but I'd get a subaru dealer or the same person to check out the overall health of the engine.

Buying a heavily modified vehicle like this either gets you tons of power cheap or nets you a broken car fairly quickly.

    ^agreed^

Can't hurt if you aren't positive it's already seen a tuner and that you know what all is in it.

Hello and welcome to the Club!

As the others are saying get a check up by a knowledgeable Subaru tuner. Explain to them how yo think you will want to drive the car.

pro-tune. You should be able to get more than 285 whp out of an 18g on the 2.0L (especially with the FMIC). Though honestly, you are already skirting closely to the edge of what the stock transmission and 2.0L internals can handle. If you truly want more power, you're going to have to look towards a stronger gearset (at least STi RA gears), forged pistons and connecting rods. It wouldn't be a bad plan to swap out for a 2.5L semi-closed block while you're in there.
