Some VTA BOVs cause the engine to run rich between shifts and may cause the backfire. Of course there are other things that may be causing that, but check that also.

i have an 05 sti with a tbe,bov,cobb intake,cobb ap,lw flywheel, and stage 2 clutch. it backfires in between shifts mostly. i was wondering if any knows wat this is from and how to get it to stop!

Afterfire is caused by too rich of an AFR mixture. A custom tune should help keep it to a minimum.
