    Thought I'd Introduce myself

Name is Art, been lurking here for a couple of weeks learning a lot about my new car.

I live in the Rockville, MD area and discovered I have a ton of good shops in the area. TurboXS, Atlantic MotorSports, Mach V (steering VA). Any other shops or opinions on the ones listed are always welcome.

    What I have:
    08 WRX, Red 5 Door

    Mods:
    TurboXS 50/50 BOV
    KartBoy Short Shifter
    KartBoy Shifter Bearings
    GrillCraft Hood Scoop Grill

(I only bought it a week ago)

    Near Future Mods:
(I need a little help here)
TurboXS Up Pipe (only if the cat is located in the uppipe
    TurboXS Down Pipe
    TurboXS High Flow Cat
either Perrin CatBack Exhaust or SPT Catback Exhaust
Defi Boost Gauge and Wideband AFR Gauge
Fiberglass (hand made) gauge pod near the cigarette lighter/shifter
Cobb Access Port or custom tune (depends on what research turns up)

Thinking About: (only if I have a larger turbo in the works)
    255 LPH Fuel Pump
    Upgraded Fuel Injectors
    Fuel Rail

I am looking for a company that may mill out the stock turbo to put larger internals inside it.. if its even possible.

I am also wondering if the stock Legacy engine cover could be fabricated to cover the WRX engine with the stock hood still on.

Any other ideas are welcome as I am very new to turbo cars.

    I have built a:
1997 Honda Del Sol D16Y8 (N/A and not stock)
1982 Pontiac Trans Am with a bored Chevy 305 650cfm carburetor and a lot of other goodies (mostly Edelbrock).

I plan on being there as well, perhaps I'll take pics when I get there. I haven't had the time to take pics yet but I should have a few after this weekend.

    Hi.

No, you don't have a cat in the up-pipe, though you can gain a small bit of performance replacing the stock one. I would replace it later on.

    And it's Defi, not Delphi.

How do you like the Hood Scoop Grill?? I have been thinking about getting one but havent really decided yet?

On the installation where exactly are you drilling the holes?

The hood grill is nice, matches stock front grill very nicly (a little thicker but not noticable unless you are really nit picking)

    Installiation:

    Lift hood,
Remove plastic clips holding the plastic scoop botom in the front
put grill insert in from front to the depth you like
    mark
drill into the plastic part of the hood scoop 3/16" bit
put grill insert in, tighten screws
    reattach plastic hood scoop insert
    completed

whole process took me maybe 10 min to get it lined up where I want it.

I'm surprised STI_KLR hasn't posted about IAG Performance in this thread yet.

Until you do a turbo swap, I wouldn't bother either

Since there is no cat, I don't see a benefit in replacing the up pipe.. Through more research I found out that only the 02-05s have the cat in the up pipe (correct me if I am wrong) but mine doesn't have one.. Next step for me will be a turbo back exhaust with a high flow cat.

I'm trying to avoid the larger turbo for now so I may just leave it at the turbo back and not do anything further than the guages for a while.

That way if I do need a warranty I can revert all of my previous mods in about 45 min before I take it in for any other repairs required.

Should sound good, look good and overall it has plenty of performance for me for the time being.

I do thank everyone for all of their input so far though.. very helpful.

If warranty is an issue, honestly, stop modding. Any tech that actually pays attention can see when parts have been recently removed (scratched/nicked bolts) and dealerships can tell if a car has been tuned.

The dealers will look for any reason to void a warranty, the way I'm looking at it, I am doing easy mods that can be reversed.. if they go as far as saying that this bolt has been touched I don't see any reason to attempt to retain. (I've seen cases where they will void based on changing the air filter). So since I'm going to loose the warranty I may as well attempt to keep it as long as I can. If they tell me I don't have it anymore then bigger turbo and upgraded fuel system and full custom tune are very quickly in the works.

If I can keep the warranty I'm happy and only have to reverse the mods every 3ish months for oil changes then stick them back on when the oil change is done. Then bone stock for winter until the Warranty is gone or they take it away.

What can I say, I'm easy!

As Justin said, dealerships can tell if the car has been modified. There is a "Good Will" program service managers can utilize in which they pay for warranty claims anyway. If I was a service manager and someone tried to pull one over on me (revert the car to stock), there's no way I would opt to use that program and help them out.
