The stages people talk about tend to be associated with commercial products that may or may not be from specific vendors. With today's more popular vendors "2" typically means a full catless exhaust and some sort of management solution. Beyond that people tend to replace turbos and injectors.

Not sure what your current mod level is... or you knowledge of modifying Subarus... but you may want to read this thread from NASIOC.

what year & model subaru do you have?

9 times out of 10 you do not need a boost controller and it is not a good idea. they are not a safe or effective way of increasing boost.

Yes, you need an EM for engine mods

    Stage one: Stock + Tune

Stage two: Stock + Turbo Back Exhaust (Downpipe and Catback) + Tune

There are no after stage 2's... Back when there were other forms of popular ECU options besides opensource and cobb accessport there were stages up to 4 and 5.. but there are entirely too many aftermarket parts and options that stages 3+ have gone by the wayside.

Before you do a single modification to your car make sure you ask around here, nasioc, etc. to make sure you're doing things the right way. There are a lot of smart people that have done some incredible things with their WRXs around here and are willing to help! If you're embarassed to ask a question, a few of us (including me) are open to PM's and instant messaging on AIM, and if we're not 100% on the question then we can point you in the right direction and find out the answer with you.
