    New Owner

    Hey there folks,

I just got a new 2010 WRX 5 door. I had been looking at WRX's for a while and decided to trade my RX-8 in towards one. Best decision I have made in a long time!

Anyway, thought I'd just say hello.

Welcome, congrats on the purchase! You should post some pics when you get a chance.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my RX-8 and do miss it. However, I am married now and needed something a little more practical for daily use. Also, getting more than 11mpg is nice.

And thanks for the welcomes fellas! I'll be taking some pics of the car tomorrow and posting them asap.

when I test drove the RX-8 it freaked me out that you could hit the 9000 RPM redline without even noticing (if you didn't look at the tach) because the wankel engine was just THAT smooth. The reason why I didn't buy the car was because it was 4 years old and only had 1 year left on the warranty, and it's not easy to find a mechanic that works on rotary engines...

The RX-8 is not a Wankel, its a Renesis. I dunno a 2-rotor without turbo is like a Honda without VTEC, just doesn't have a good time.

Wankel engine is another term for the rotary engine design, it's named after it's creator, Felix Wankel. The "Renesis" is Mazda's engine code. It's like you telling me that the WRX doesn't have a piston engine, it has an EJ205! The EJ205 is a piston engine! Likewise, the Renesis is a Wankel engine.

I got it in the dark grey. Honestly I would have been happy with any color other than red. Not that the red is a bad color, just a bit flashy is all.

I took the car out for an extended drive today and was going to snap some pictures but it started pouring rain so I decided to wait. Lousy Oregon weather!

As far as all this RX-8 talk goes, I didn't realize I was opening a can of worms. Just to clarify, I loved my RX-8 and do miss it. However, I am quite pleased with my WRX and can't wait to have it fully broken in so I can really open it up.

you'll notice it get stronger as it breaks in (atleast I did) it still surprises me on occasion now and I've got some decent seat time invested. Definitely a fun and useful car.

    nice pick up

i wanted the dark grey but couldn't find inventory so i got spark silver. had to buy before christmas.....

i love that car. i've got 1200 miles on it, and the gas mileage is improving (or maybe i am just driving it better...) and it does seem to be getting stronger as one poster mentioned....

although that also might just be the fact that I am getting the feel of it....the friction point on the clutch is sort of a learning curve it seems.

have fun with it. you have made a great choice.

Okay folks! I got the car broken in today and let me just say Subaru built a car that came to boogie! My one complaint so far is the transmission, it seems a bit squishy so I ordered new shifter bushings from Perrin along with the short shifter. Other than that, the car is awesome! Great acceleration and passing power.

Anyway, here are some photos of the car! My wife decided to pose with the car, and despite my best efforts she wouldn't wear a bikini.
