another aspect to think of is that its angled backward toward the driver a bit.. this makes up for any lack in over all height.
The data I got from looking at it everyday in my car. Mine is close to an inch shorter with the stock knob, with the KB knob, closer to 2"

It does that, but you dont have to drastically shorten the over all height to shorten the throw. Besides the factory shifter throw isn't necessarily long its just really sloppy.

I didn't see that much drop with mine using the factory knob. It is lower, but not by much. Did you actually measure or just guess?

Just a guess but we're talking about 3\8" difference, you could be right but mine seems shorter than just more than a half inch

damn..lol.. was hoping you measured. I'm away from home till end of next week (away from my tools ) Once I get home I'll have to pop the trim out of mine and measure against the factory stick. You might be right too .. I know its lower but doesn't seem by much. Either way we wont know for sure till a measurement is taken.

I like the factory knob on mine though.. onlookers have no Idea its not factory

Me too, the KB knob was a little disappointing, it's nice and all, but its freezing cold in the winter and I feel like I'm driving a hopped up civic, it just feels too aftermarket

thats exactly why i wanted to stick with the factory knob. I like the look of stock. I wont lie though my sister has a 2008 Honda civic SI and the stock shifter knob would look perfect in my car, it is polished aluminum with red that would match the stitching in my seats. To be honest my sister paid around 26k for her si new and i am totally dissappointed in it. I mean the car is very fast but when i look at what i got compared to what she got there is no comparison. Plus my car is all wheel drive and much faster.

I bought the black knob with red label, and it does match but it looks too aftermarket

Yeah to be honest, i wish Subaru used a different knob for the WRX, it looks too cheap. WIll the SI knob work on my WRX. I know it has a different mechanism for going into reverse
