Im looking to buy a used wrx wagon. Is 120000 mi too high to buy? If not what problems/ maintenence issues should i expect besides timing belt? Should i avoid modded cars? I sure wish i didnt total my 05 rex wagon.

At 120k miles, I would totally avoid a modded WRX... but to be honest, I would avoid a totally stock WRX at that mileage too. However, if the previous owner took good, detailed care of the car (like all required, factory maintenance items, etc) and has the documents to prove it... it may not be a bad deal. Just make sure you shop around.
