Hey guys I need some input please. I'm new to these forums and I'm trying to decide if I should buy an 04 rex or an 04 neon srt-4. Any input would be really appreciated

Buy the more reliable of the two, since over time it'll be the cheapest to own and the easiest to live with.

i'm sure everyone here will say get a wrx, being its a wrx forum and well, awd is a big plus in comparison to the srt-4's fwd.

i can't speak for the reliability of the srt-4, but the wrx is very reliable provided all maintainance has been done.

when searching for a used car, be very inquisitive and don't hesitate to ask questions about the car. ask for service records, ask who the previous owner was. mod's are also something you need to know about.

theres a great deal of info on here and NASIOC. read up.

Yes ... the WRX is the better overall car.

1) drive both and see which one you like better
2) call your insurance company and see which one is cheaper
3) FWD or AWD?
4) do you want crankup back windows or power back windows?
5) do you mind your 3rd gear not working 90% of the time?
6) do you want really comfy seats or mediocre seats

there are so many factors that go into a "should i get X vs X" equation that we cannot make up your mind for you.

you can get a decent amount of power out of the srt without that much work & they are very fun to drive/easy to work on however arent "extremely" reliable

No idea. On my boyfriends srt his 3rd gear was just shot. It hardly ever worked. He said it was a common problem but I never asked the specifics.

WRX. I've driven both and enjoy the WRX more. Just my $.02

Thanks for your advice, I decided after a test drive in an 04 stock wrx and I can't pass it up. I'm going to dig through the classifieds and hopefully find a mostly stock clean one.

Thanks haha it's a diff story if you visit the srtfourms website. I would also really appreciate anything any of you have learned that i can use to shop around for my Scoobie. I know basics for cars in general but my guess is the majority of you have expansive knowledge where as mine is fairly limited, but I'm here to learn.
