    New Member W/ Cobalt...omg?

Whats up guys/gals. Names mike. My girlfriend just purchased a 2002 WRX and im loving it more then she is haha. Always loved the WRX but couldnt justify paying the prices they want for a nice used one. I currently own a 2009 Cobalt SS Turbocharged. Its a fun car and def surprises alot of people. I hope this is a warm welcomeing type place. Im looking for some advice on some parts such as an exhaust, springs, and a simple lip kit. Wondering if the ebay stuff is legit as i know the exhaust and intakes from there for my cobalt have been proven to work nicely. Im into go, shes in show. Here are pics i just took today after i drove it home, dirty dirty. stupid NH weather..

hey mike. i personally have had my ebay exhaust for years now w/o any problems. they are rumored to rust though if you live in a cold/snowy climate.

do a quick search for "exhaust" & you'll find a ton of threads on the topic. everyone likes different things. some like loud, some like quiet. some like a 4.5" muffler tip, some like the more stealth look. i'd just shop around and see what your gf would like better

Welcome to the Club dude. People here are more car enthusiasts than Subie Fanbois and girls, you will get along just fine no matter what you drive.

I have a SrS Turbo back on my car and am driving it in the weather so I will let you know how it holds up to the salt and sand.

It's hard to see what kind of tires she has but you would do well to stick some Blizzaks or Nokians on there for winter fun. Seems like you could go with a mild drop as well, though if you drop it and stick a lip on it have her be very very careful! My car is tough with a 2 inch drop and lip, even when the roads are plowed well, there is always a small pile of snow to catch the lip.

Where in NH are you guys? Seems to be a lot of WRX's around up North here. Welcome.

Were located in dover, nh. We just brought the car home and those are the summer rims/tires. It came with some winter rims and brand new snow tires that i will be throwing on tomorrow. So far i love driving this in the snow and getting sideways haha. She wants a drop but nothing slammed. More or less 1-2" just to level out the car. She does want a lip kit for it tho, but thank god she does not want a giant metal wing

I would look into the Mach V blue springs here

They seem to have a low enough spring rate to still ride decent but give a nice drop without being slammed. I have Perrin 2 inch drop springs that are as low as I would want to go, a little too low for me. The Mach V's are $199 for a set of 4, pretty decent.

As I said before, be careful with too big of a drop and a lip, especially in the snow. I scrape my lip on some driveways and whatnot. Driving in the snow is work.

    Good luck.

Welcome mike! how much are you looking to spend on an exhaust? I live in Salem Nh an a good place to look for parts is craigslist. I got my Cobb for $325 and love it. I beleave there's a turboback forsale local for 200ish. check it out. I thinks it's an eBay exhaust.

... and the WRX is still a Subaru econobox.

GM is in no financial / corporate shape to make niche cars like the Cobalt SS. Too bad really - it is a very capable car ... for FWD.
