    No, you can get tuned Open Source without an AP. Contact protuners in your area.

    you can also buy a tatrix cable & a map off the internet.. wouldnt use this method unless you have a laptop & know what youre doing :P

    What kind of tune should I do on a 06 wrx with 30000 miles on it ?

    i'm not sure you understand whats going on lol

    a tune would be going stage 1.

    stage 1 consists of a stock car or one with a catback + a tune.

    you can tune with the AP.. opensource.. tatrix cable.. etc.

    with this being said, if you are NOT getting the AP & you ever plan on adding a downpipe and going stage 2, i personally would not even bother with stage 1.

    with a custom tune you'd have to pay 250-300 dollars for a stage 1 tune.. and then if you add a downpipe you'll just have to go back & tune again, dishing out another chunk of change.


    if youre getting the AP, it doesnt make a difference because you just have to pay for it once & the off-the-shelf maps are free.

    Oh alright so ........one more thing if I get a AP and have the car stock and keep it that way and run a 93 octane map will it be fine? and will I get more performance and mileage ?

    You will see a very small increase in power with the stage 1 map. It's main purpose is for smoothing out the powerband. Gas mileage will vary depending on driving habits
