Hi all :-)

Just thought I'd introduce myself, my name is Adam, im 36 and from Winchester UK, I bought my 1997 STI last June, after wanting one for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately early this April after blipping it around town it threw a big end bearing, and after being ripped off in July from a w***stain of a mechanic and another installed knackered engine, I have decided to do the job myself. What's the old saying, If you want a good job done do it yourself!
Needless to say after purchasing a few hundred pounds worth of tools an engine hoist and some specialised tools the engine is now out of the car and ready for the replacement.

I'm currently in the process of putting it back together After purchasing a re-built engine, I decided to also change a host of other stuff, i.e. stainless steel exhaust manifold, aluminium race radiator silicone hoses, excedy organic clutch the list goes on and on.
I will try and post some pics of the re-build if anyone is interested ;-)

HELL TO THE YES we're interested in pics.

the 20th century STI's were the best looking ones in my opinion and we never got them here in the states.

Bummer about all your engine trouble though, and best of luck on the rebuild.

we'll be pulling for you across the pond.
