:( Subaru Gerald North Aurora :(

Long Story - sorry rough night first time trying to own a wrx.

Back info - First time car buying well second but I don't count my zx2 escort lol

Well, it was a sad day for me I was looking at mustangs. no thats not why I was sad anyways I got to try the new taruas show and omfg if that engine gets in the 2011 mustang <- unlikely the v6 mustang will finally be awesome. Anyways I couldn't get my mustang in the price I wanted under 299 so I had to walk out.

Anyways it was across the store from a Subaru dealership and I said what the hey it's granted 8 at night and i've never drove an WRX before. Anyways needless to say I told the sales guy I was just just checking it out before I went home but he wanted me to test drive it and I was like sure but i'm not gonna be buying it till I can at least SEE THE CAR in daylight!

I must say i've drove alot of cars from dealers and friends lately from evo 8's rx8's miata 350z mustangs camaro's and so on and so forth I must say the WRX really really really impressed me now I want to buy one. Unforuntally I wasn't sound on buying tonight I wanted my uncle with cause he works at an auto auction has some insider info. Should I have insider info probablly not it puts a dealer at a disadvantage (Example there was a tiburon listed at 17.9 2008 78 miles with with the info I could have got down to 14.5 or less. The owner said he had 17k in it and I really low balled him just to see and I guess he knew I had some info cause the next day 14.5 was ok. He figured out if he takes back to auction hes only getting 13.9 or so. Unforuntally I wasn't looking for a tiburon after I saw a few other cars!

Anyways I was dealing with {EDIT} a sales consult at the gerald subaru in North Aurora.

In any case we get inside I don't wanna hammer out any numbers tonight I wanted to do that saturday I wanted to check insurance costs and see if I could get the money I need to hit my number in my head. He's like write it down and i'll see what I can do. My number is like 269 but I can really go up to 299 I figure the car is out of my range but I have 3k down + a 3k trade and I asked for the recent grad bonus but they said it's only on the 60 months deal. I don't want to lease because I'm going to mod the car also i'm not paying the insurance cause i'm going to be going back to school again in which case I really couldn't afford the car. Anyways he flips over some paper sheet and says sign this and you can have it for 150 dollars a month. Now we all know thats unrealistic no one is gonna give me an wrx for 150 a month unless it's over like 12 years or something ahaha. So I just walked away and he's like you know your just wasting my time cause you don't want to buy anything so just get the {EDIT} my dealership never test drive a car here again. Well I was in shock now they were talking behind my back after as well which I understand completely i'm a server so we kinda do the same but he was doing it loudly and while I was still there. He told me I made him feel like people that just come and leave a 0 Tip. What he doesn't understand is I work in Aurora I get 0 tips all the time I mean not all the time but alot and service doesn't mean anything to these people that tip 0 in fact they might love me so much they want me the next time they come in and yes I wont lie I remember them and maybe i'm alittle slower but I still have to do the basics and give them service I can't say {EDIT} i'd lose my job.

What I was trying to explain to {EDIT} is I needed to be at 299 or less becuase I work 60 hours a week currently and I can personally go buy and damn car I want, but i'm going back to school again and will have more bills soon and I wanted it to be a manageable number. I don't want to have to work so many hours when school will be getting harder I dont' think I can do it I don't want to miss a carpayment and lose my car then I'm kinda {EDIT} and at 350-400 a month I can't say it wont happen but at 299 I can say my car is safe even if someone in my family had to pay it a month or two if I lost a job or something.

I wanted to get a Manual but I'm not very good yet and {EDIT} took one out for me and even let me try and he started off so good and then it went down hill. I wasnt trying to screw with him and I told him that it was 8 at night and personally he wasn't doing anything there was no one there and he wasn't trying to aggressively look online or call people in he was in the service bay looking at a some new 2010 car so I don't think I was wrong before today I knew nothing about a WRX aside from hearing people talk about it now all I know is I hate Subaru, and what really sucks in this whole thing is

    I {EDIT} LOVED THE CAR.

    So thank you {EDIT}

Thanks for ruining my weekend. I'm sorry you didn't get a sale you had it in your hands too I even took your card I hope I get to speak to someone at Subaru because man it's kinda a niche brand and I only stopped there cause it was across the street. If Subaru of American wants to put some signs up that say hey don't come in unless your signing on a line then you know I wouldn't have went inside to begin with. Heck I go to the mall but I don't walk out with {EDIT} usually only my g/f does ahaha

Sooo, why don't you call the dealership and ask to speak with a manager concerning that specific salesperson and how he treated you. If you took the time to write that post i'msure you have the time to make a little phone call.

Sorry to hear that your experience at the Suby dealer sucked like that.

man thats one of the longest posts i'v seen in a while.

i am quite surprised that they acted like that at a subaru dealer. my suby dealer is very nice, i go there about once a week just to stop by and check out there new stuff. if a salesperson said something like that at this dealer they would be fired on the spot, no questions asked. sorry for the bad experience, thats pretty pathetic of him. i wouldn't apologize for a second, in fact i'd go back and get a diff salesperson and tell him what happend and that you are interested and you could probly get a lower price

    Hello,

Welcome. I can certainly understand your frustration and for what it's worth I believe your story. However the forum is read by viewers of all ages so we don't allow language that might be considered inappropriate or offensive. Please don't engage the swear filter. Also, we don't know this person and as unethical or even rude as their behaviour might have been it is IMO not the forum's place to have this person's surname posted.

That said, here's what I'd do: don't buy from that dealer. Don't finance from any dealer. Go to a credit union and join. Set up your own financing. Find a dealer in your area with a car that interests you, and let them know you'll be by to have a look. Don't let anyone "run any numbers" since you really don't care. Don't worry about people's names or personalities. If they are rude, walk. If you don't like them, ask for another salesperson. This is a business transaction, keep it at that and keep in mind you ought to value your time much more than you value theirs.

Don't negotiate payments, only negotiate the final price out the door. Know ahead of time what the car is worth and what others are paying in your area. If you can reach a deal on terms you like, great. If not, just walk.

They make more Subarus every day. There is no reason to stress about buying one and there is also no reason for anyone to be rude to you.

Hope it works out. The forum has sticky threads with resources including "how to buy" info if you're interested.

    Welcome again.

As random as this is......my first car was also a zx2 escort haha. Every make of car has a bad dealership with bad salesmen. I will add to what everyone else has and agree that its truly the car that matters in the end. Shop around, but i promise you, you will be happy with a wrx. Choose another dealer, drive another car and enjoy.

My thinking is usually buy the dealer, not the product and frankly if I don't like a local dealer I'll either find another with the same product or buy something else. If there are no Subaru dealers in your area that provide good service don't hesitate to look at other cars, there are terrific cars in that price range.

That said, since you're in a heavily populated state it is extremely unlikely you'll not find a dealer with good service. Take your time shopping and if it stops being fun, stop doing it.

This worst part is the closest ones near me are owned by the same owner I did contact another dealership. Like another poster said I know alot of sales people that are just bored and love when people just want to come test drive cars cause traffic is kinda down. WRX is my favorite of what i've tried so far the only car I couldn't try was an evo because I don't know if it's all the dealers, but mine says you gotta sign before trying which seems again unrealistic, but maybe Aurora Area dealers are just bad.

They let me test drive the evos. and the ralli art. he wanted me to compare them. i wasn't even looking to buy and i told him that, but he was still insisting on me at least trying them out. i couldn't say no to a request like that.

Sounds like you got much better service than the OP. The OP really needs to find a good dealer in their area, someone professional and polite at the very least.

i was surprised they let me actually, given that everyone always says how stuck up they are at that dealer (they mainly sell German luxury). But it looked like a slow day and he was wondering if i was thinking of "upgrading" i kindly said not at the moment but maybe one day. and he still wanted me to so whatever, he even told me to open it up and see how it feels. i was surprised to hear that.
