    Two things:

    1. Other owners. They are all highly skilled, it's just that trees, other cars, buildings etc. keep running into them and they keep on getting speeding tickets for no reason. End result is that I pay more insurance for my Impreza than for another of our cars that is five years younger and cost 40% more to purchase initially.

    2. If the car is not maintained correctly or is modified, the parts used are invariably not authentic parts designed/intended by the manufacturer for the car. This can get expensive.

ok then, so yes i do know insurance can get high on these vehicles more than likely because of stupidity, but it sounds like if u drive good and watch what you are doing you are fine and just do regular maintenance the car will last a long time correct? Also if i did do mods it would be small ones anyway, nothing with the motor, just a reflash, exhaust, and some cosmetic things.

The The Subaru Impreza is no harder to upkeep than a Civic. Except the Subaru has an extra differential out back.

    Just follow the owners manual.
