    Question New here

Hey guys. I'm new here and just have a few questions. I'm going to be in the market for a new car very shortly and am really considering buying a new 2009 STi or WRX. I'm hoping that you guys could give me some pros and cons about each car, maybe help make the decision for me. Thanks in advance.

Do you plan on modifying the vehicle in the performance category, track the car, autocross the car, or drag race?

If there is a single yes... then you have to positively get the STi.

i drove both. loved the wrx, hated the sti.

i would just suggest driving both and seeing which one you like better.

with some light mods (stage 2 set up) you can get the wrx to sti power levels. of course the sti has better brakes, tramission, yadda yadda

but if youre simply looking for a car that you can throw a couple of bucks into and have a daily driver that you can still have fun with- i'd go for the wrx.

Well I'm mostly looking for a daily driver that can get me through snow and anything else that gets thrown my way during the winter months, since I'm considered essential personnel. I am however planning on taking it to the track every now and again just to have some crazy fun in it. As for modifications they will probably be very slight for the time being.

Okay... you say "For the time being"...

If you plan on adding ANYTHING power-wise more than exhaust and a tune... the WRX transmission won't handle it. So in the next 5 years... ask yourself... do you think you'll be satisfied with just an exhaust?

(I'm a regretful WRX owner, who wishes he would've gotten an STi)

Well I'd say that pretty much settles it then. I think that the WRX would be nice, but I think that I'll have to go to the STi (of course that might change when I take them for test drives). I like the nice added things that the STi brings to the table, and as you said Sinister, I'd hate to be saying "I should have just paid the extra for the STi" later down the road. Thanks for all of your help guys.

When I finally get out of the academy and get around to purchasing the car I'll post the pictures.

Forewarning... The 09 wrx is quicker in the 1/4 because it has one less shift (possibly two less depending on driver) and it is softer and more forgiving.
