well, we cant help you decide either because you didnt give us any information.

    whats your budget?

what kind of "fun" will you be using it for?

    autocross?
    rallycross?
    drag racing?
trying to drift? (seriously... some people try)

    what are your horsepower goals?
    do you plan on modding?

I concur with getting the WRX as it seems to suit your needs more. Going Stage 2 (TBE w/tune) you will lay down pretty decent numbers.

If you have intentions to try, you may find that you're using the wrong kind of car to do it. Cars will full-time AWD are built specifically for traction, so they don't lose it on a whim like RWD cars can.

I just got a WRX myself, I'm loving it.. these cars are also so much fun in snow and on rainy days, perhaps it's not the thing for drifting, but you can easily make it slide if you know what you're doing This car is awesome for corners!

Noone bothered to remind you about the hidden costs.

Check insurance costs. Are you under 25? if so kiss the STI goodbye unless you can pay $1600 every 6 months.

Also, remember sales tax. 12k WRX is 1k in taxes. 18-20k STI is 1600 in taxes.

Get the WRX, throw on Engine managment, turboback exhuast and some springs with a good tune.

This is totally from a practicality side, but going from my 2005 Honda Accord Sedan to a 2009 WRX would cost me approximately $80 more per month.

This is based on the increase in my insurance premiums and the increased gas costs due to less fuel economy and running Premuim instead of Regular gas. The STI would obvously be a bigger jump. The beautiful thing is though, the WRX gets a larger jump than most other cars on the market from a stage 1 plugin Cobb tune (without changing any hardware). So if insurance actually goes by HP/TQ numbers, theres can quickly be lower than what you actually get.
