    Newbie

Hello everyone,I'm from S.Africa and got my 1st scooby in Dec lastyear.

I wish I had a WRX but unfortunatly for now all I have is a 2.0GX....hope I'm still welcomed?

I had an opportunity to get a WRX but the insurance is too high for me now, but wanna get one close to the end of this year or next year, I have driven a few before and WAH-WAH-WE-WAH!
    So, I def will upgrade.

I would like to do some mods on my current car, any suggestions?

    It's a 2003 2.0GX Impreza sw
any advice on where to start?

    thanks

hi there. of course your welcome here. ur subie looks good, im not too familiar with that model however. i hope your liking it, if your looking to mod, u could consider a new exhaust first, along with air intake, and get the em tuned. that would make a difference that im sure you'd enjoy.

Hey there "The Buck" thanx for the welcome, I done the exhaust on Monday, Sounds good and feels a bit slower on take off, but feels faster after that.I never done the full xhaust system, cost's a bit much at this time, I only done the back pipe, tailpiece and removed the catalytic converter.

I am planning to do the cold air intake, can I do it myself or is there more to it that meets the eye?
I done it myself for my other car,it was easy but with this one I don't wanna touch.

What do you mean you don't know this model?
What's different, besides not being a wrx.

a big thing to watch out for is the sensors, when your removing and replacing things you dont want the sensors to be thrown off. so look into where the things are, going catless can throw things off idk if it will for your car tho.

the cai install is pretty easy. the only problem i see you having is maybe putting the maf sensor backwards. other then that it should be pretty easy. i would also look into doing aftermarket headers.

here in the US we dont have anything called the 2.0GX

our non-turbo models were called "2.5rs" or if it is an 06+ it's a "2.5i"

Thanx guys, here in S.A we also have the 2.5 rs and 2.0 rs but not the 2.5i

Anyway, I dnt know about the sensors, I will rather not try it myself gonna rather take it to nascar or seek sum sort of tutorial.

what do you think about doing a complete turbo conversion?
Is it advised or should I just wait and get a wrx?

to add an aftermarket turbo and all additional supporting mods, i guess i dont think it's worth it, but each to there own. if its in your budget to buy and have everything installed then go ahead. but you would still have your stock suspension, no scoop for your intercooler (if its a TMIC), ect.. which would mean that just because it has turbo doesnt mean its a wrx or sti type ride. But if your willing to pay for it all and have it done right then sure, go ahead

To be informative, your car's motor is an EJ201.

Here is a thread about turbocharging one.

Thnx, no I don't think i'm gonna turbo it, rather wait till I can get my hands on the wrx, seems like there is more to the wrx than just a turbo.

    Thanx guyz!
