    New owner. Easy HP?

Just bought a 2004 wrx wagon. Everything is stock as far as I know. 76,000 miles. Came with paperwork from every service visit made including all oil changes. Feels perfectly broken in perfectly when driving. What is an easy, cheap way to increase horsepower without losing the cars currently nice feel? Cheap being < $500.

Increase that budget a little bit ($800-1,000) and you can pick up a good 60-70 whp.

if you are a smart shopper, you can be a tuned Stage 2 for less than $500. Just keep a check on the classifieds here and on nasioc.com

    +1 on used parts

    used up pipe -100
    used cat back - 150
    straight pipe - free
    ebay downpipe - 70
    used accessport v2 - 400

    that equals to $720

not bad at all considering if i wanted to get brand name turbo back, id spend more on the turboback then i did all those parts

Considering he lives in Oregon, I wouldn't recommend eBay exhaust.

OK. so basically what you guys are telling me is that:

    1) Don't eat chicken drunk
    2) My expectations about being cheap and getting quality new stuff is unreasonable.
    3) Hot girls drive WRX's.

What about upgrading small things under the hood. Wiring, plugs, filters....any of these increase hp, even a little.

You can get used quality parts for about what you'd pay for new eBay parts - look in Nasioc classifieds (our classified section just doesn't get enough action). My entire TBE (Invidia DP + Borla catback) cost me $200, and neither part had more than 10K on it
