Just picked up my new 09 STI this evening and got a little over 1/10th the way through my break-in.
My post really isn't about me and patiently waiting over a decade to be an STI owner - but more about the rest of you rex owners and this cool little club that I just joined.
I guess I didn't know how tight the world's circles got, but driving around and seeing (very few) other rex owners on the road - everyone threw nods out like "welcome to the club."
I'm in SoCal (OC) - and after my first day driving, I can't wait to check out the meet-ups. Going into this experience, I was expecting an elitist attitude (i.e. look at that stock STI) since I don't plan on too many upgrades until I pay her off - but it's just the opposite...."look at that new member" is the only sense I got on the street.......not to mention all the 350Z owners looking at my pride and joy thinking "I should have bought a rex"
So long story short - thanks to all of you club members who just made one of my best days a whole lot better - keep up the commrodory

Nice first post. Welcome.
That's the first thing I noticed about the Subaru community as well. There's no elitism, and everyone gives you respect for just owning one. The whole community seems to be a fairly mature and kind one, especially to each other. I'm not sure what it is, but I guess it's just a Subaru thing. I have a stock 09 WRX and I pulled up next to an 04/05 stage 2 STI the other night, rolled down my window, and we talked at the stop light for a bit. He complimented me on how awesome my car was, even though he was heavily modded and MUCH faster, lol. Everyone I've met from this community has been very cool and a pleasure to talk with.

You'll notice there are a few bad apples, but over all... it doesn't matter if you have a GT40r'd race car, or a car that hasn't had a thing done to her.. the Subaru community is overly friendly, and willing to learn, and teach!
I used to live in SoCal, and the two finger wave was really common... out here in Colorado, there are a lot less enthusiasts, but you still get it every once in a while. You'll probably see one at a gas station one of these days, and I'll guarantee they'll strike up a conversation
