    Stability control left on/off?

So I just learned today the interesting effects of stability control kicking in while cornering.

Saw an STI sedan guy drive past and wave. I did a U-turn to go cruise with him a bit since I had to kill 10 minutes. I hit the onramp (wet pavement) and just stuck my foot in it knowing this corner pretty well. As I was rounding the corner onto the onramp the road dipped and the car, like I was expecting, got light and slid a 5 or so feet. But man did the stability control not like that.

I was expecting full power out of the dip to head up the onramp, but right as the car slid, power cut to almost nothing. Had to wait for the traction to come back and boost to build back up. If I did this again I would have taken traction control off so I could have driving the car like I was expecting it to handle without the computer intervention.

This brings me to the following question: What do most WRX guys run on the street, stability control On or Off?

Next on list: 1) Boost Gauge, 2) Catback

I got a new 09 Impreza for my wife and it also has the stability control, when I drive it I leave it on for most of the time. If I feel like I want to go for a more spirited run I'll turn that off becasue as you expirienced it will kill the fun and will start to make all sorts of weird noises. Now, when I was driving in heavy snow it was weird, becasue it would give you the feeling of; like you gliding on air, and you didn't know what the car was going to do, so I turned it off and then I was more confident in what the car was actually going to do.
