    does anybody know if the 2004 ej257 engine will mount up to a 5 speed transmisson from a 2004 impreza rs?

    Yes, it will.
    You'll need to use the 5-speed's clutch\flywheel.

    Can you give us some more information on what you are doing?

    thanks. i have a 2004 rs and im wanting to put the sti motor in and i didn't know if my transmisson would work or if i would need to buy a new one.

    It will bolt up, but there is a lot more involved than just bolting it in to the car.

    Running all the wires to all the new/different sensors is the biggest part of the job.

    The rear diff in a RS is not limited slip.
    IIRC the 04 RS transmission is the same as the 02 WRX transmission. Which is not very strong.

    The suspension will need to be addressed. Larger Swaybars, HD Endlinks, good tires, and good brake pads at minimum.

    what kind of ecu would i need. i was looking at the aem stand alone one the sell would that work.
