    Switching Auto to Standard

    hey, i'm about to get a WRX as my first car. It's coming as an automatic (nothing i had control over) and i want to know how much it would end up costing me to change it to standard transmission. thanks.

    Too much to make it worth it. Just make the most of the auto.

    4000 dollars in just parts for a STI transmission, because there is no reason you should waste your time with a WRX transmission if you're going to be replacing it.

    You'll call me crazy, but I say stay with auto. I've heard of 400whp on stock Automatic transmissions with just an upgraded torque converter. I'm scared to death of the 5 speed going out on me at my power levels.

    haha i'll be quite honest with you man
    i'm just a sixteen yearold kid who's just learning his stuff about subies. and i just like driving standard because its much more fun.

    Anything over 400whp is a great time to have an automatic. First gear is ridiculously difficult to control otherwise.
    2009 DGM WRX 5-door w/ STI short shifter. Stock...for now.

    Stick with the auto pal. In the long run it'll cost you a lot less money. I guarantee you'll end up installing aftermarket parts on it.... most do
