Why am i getting pushed away from a WRX?

ok i recently started my new job as a subaru tech at a dealership. im gonna be sent to subaru school to learn everything about them so i figured i might as well start saving for a wrx. but the other techs tell me there no good, some reasons they give me....
1.) engine does not take abuse well
    2.) turbos dont last long
3.) the tuning for high performance is a pain
4.) the stock suspension is junk

the first two were from techs themselves the last two are hearing from other people

    O the WRX i want is a 5 spd 03wrx

    THANKS in advance

STis @ 240,000 miles with none of those problems = disgruntled employees?

I regularly carry passengers not one has made a slip about how car handles; My take on your situation is you dealing with a bunch of haters who deal with repairing retarded driven cars.

But the 03 your adoring did have some tranny issues I believe. =)

Because the only reason I have to like it is that ride is relatively comfortable.

i wouldnt completely agree with 1. as with almost any car, you can only abuse them so much. if you are just beating the **** out of it then no. good way to prevent it is regular maintance, tuning, and not being a complete idiot. **** does happen though.

stock suspension isnt junk... its just not very good. it doesnt take much to fix that problem.

learn about the cars then make the decision on your own. always look over the car very well before buying of course.

Why not drive the car and develop an opinion for yourself?

    Here's my opinion:

1)An STi motor can withstand 400awhp on stock internals and run smooth. Name me a few other cars in our price range that can do that?
2)Okay and? Tons of members here running past 100,000 miles on stock turbo. Name a v6 or v8 with 100,000 miles that hasnt had some serious coin put into it in maintenance?
3)Just dead wrong. If anything our cars are MORE responsive to tuning.
4)It's not a smooth ride but the stock suspension on these cars isnt horrible.

there are no perfect cars.. for 1.answer: im thinking how about rally (wrc) driven cars, they take the most beating and subarus are known for it but on the other hand they do have extra $$$ for new engine.

WRC cars have no relation to road cars. They share a name but that's at best misleading. The results and/or reliability seen on WRC cars has no bearing on what a road car will or won't do.

Group N cars are more closely related but the amount of maintenance required to field a competitive effort is astronomical.

Competition is great for technology and generates tremendous prestige, but at the end of the day there are better road cars than the Impreza. There always have been. Part of the Impreza's appeal was the driveline, part was Subarus legacy (pardon the pun...) of being different, of being a sort of Japanese Saab in philosophy. This last bit is now long gone, but they've been improving the driveline and chassis steadily.

They've not improved the paint, the ergonomics (much) or themselves -- dealers in the US IMO did not deal with increased traffic well in the early 00s and the ones near me are still struggling with customer service, correct warranty support etc.

well i have never heard anyone complain about the STI but lets stick to the subject. i am only 19 and i cant spend $25,000 on a used STI i am located in upstate NY. but thank you for all of your opinions.
i will take one for a test drive as soon as my dealership takes one in. i drove a legacy 2.5GT Turbo and thats what set me off to get an AWD Turbo i really dont think someone could talk me out of buying one i just wanted to know from guys that own them

    Thanks again!!

    1. An STI motor is not an 03 WRX motor.

    2. ditto

    3. somewhat agree. but anything beyond kindergarten mods are $$
