Definately sucks... but why would you do a 5K drop on a brand new 09? That's just asking for problems...

I launched my 04 wrx plenty of times at 5k. But yeah that does really suck.

    Moron!

I think it goes without saying, but I will say it anyway. This thread will not end well.

To OP: You are probably not going to get a lot of sympathy from anyone past this post...don't get me wrong, I have no sympathy what so ever..I am just saying that you are going to be chewed up and spit out.

Before I flame you please tell me that you had broken the car in for a few thousand miles before doing this...

...and that you didn't dump the clutch at 5k...

    Lies, dude, LIES!!!!

Your sig says that you've never done it.

To the OP - it sucks, but it's kind of expected if you didn't do it properly. More clutch slip and less clutch dump = less chance of this happening. Sure, your clutch will wear out much faster and you have to put with that god-awful smell for a minute or two after you do it, but, it's cheaper than a broken tranny. And, no, my guess is that Subaru will not cover it under warranty; but, good luck with it anyway.

Which "How to properly break my car in" thread were you reading? I think I've done this once in the 5.5 years that I have owned my car only to see if I could do it, but I already had about 30,000 miles on it. Well, good luck fixing it. Hopefully, it can be put back to normal.
