soon to be Subaru wrx owner, need help

I am planning on buying 2007 wrx tr with 25000 miles. Is there anything i should know about the car before I buy it. any technical issues or other known issues. From what i have read the wrx tr has the same engine as the sti except for the turbo even has the same internals(could someone confirm that, i could be wrong ) any help would be greatly appreciated or if someone could point me in the wright direction.

Ask him about the car's history, and any mods and stuff, I dont really know much about the car, but seems like its a good car, not too old, and the mileage isnt bad either.

The tr was priced lower than the WRX/limited/STI because of its lack of features so to speak. No deck lid spoiler, unpainted mirrors, downgraded audio system, seats from the regular Impreza, no auto climate control. Just something to consider, but it won't "hurt" the car per se (but I really envy those with the true bucket seats).

The WRX TR has basically the same displacement as the STI, but not the same engine block. The WRX's deck is open while the STI has a semi-closed deck (essentially stronger). Turbo is different though.

Trannies have been upgraded from older years, but its still possible the original owner could have abused it. Make sure there aren't any grinds, syncros feels okay etc. (as with any car).

+1 also drive the car. Make sure you USE the brakes for see if they are fluttering (warped rotors), squeaking of any kind. I read a thread a while ago that was talking about purchasing a suby, it had a lot of info in it too.

which would be a better buy
2005 wrx with 35000 miles for $15000 or
    2007 wrx with 25000 miles for $19000

don't know which engine is better for modding the 2.0l turbo or the 2.5l turbo(which engine can take more abuse )

Without any other information such as maintenance records, modifications done to the car, I'd say go for the '07

I have been leaning towards the 07 too, they both seem to be stock and are Subaru certified cars, i just like the fact the the 2.0l turbo engine can rev up to 7100 rpm.
