If im wrong about the needing an ECU modifier, PLEASE let me know. Ive only seen where they piggy back with the modifier to do the tuning.

As for hitting the lottery, I know the feeling! Cost me $550 for my tune, but it was well worth the $. Sadly, I used a small amount of my school loans to do it
I'm pretty sure that you can go just go to a tuner and they use their tactrix cable and plug it into your car to create a custom map for you.
Scoobie gurus, can you clarify this?

Right on Spike. Thats what I did. I borrowed the 1.3 Tactrix cable from my friend. Bought an off the shelf tune from XPTtuning.com/store. Cost me 130 if I remember correctly. That tune and my downpipe took a full .5 off my best time in the quarter. All I had to do was download the program on my computer and do it all myself. Took about 20 minutes. I got a writeup and everything if you guys are interested.

Romraider, ECUflash, and XPTtuning are the cheapest way to an aggressive reflash. And for the price its hard to beat. All you need is a stable laptop and minimal skills. Ill help anyone let me know if you wanna know more.

you did it yourself? wow congrats. I was going to go get professionaly tuned on a dyno. Besides taking .5 off your time...what were your results? Power wise? Are you happy with it? I noticed you were stage II

to throw a little information out there. Bov's arent necessarily a bad mod for our cars. It's bad to run a bov with little to no mods, but when your making alot of whp(450whp+) and boosting over 20psi, a bov will benefit you.

Also, if you plan on purchasing an aftermarket intake, i suggest you get an a/f ratio gauge and watch it closely, as many aftermarket intakes require a tune for proper use.

I havent thrown it on a dyno yet but Im extremely happy with the results. Taking off .5 is old news now. I went to the track last night and threw down two 12.9s. So over all the tune has taken .7 off my best time before it. And Im not even running a catback yet. I expect to be even lower.

Doing it really wasnt that hard. I had a friend who was really knowledgable write me up a quick how to and I followed it. 20 minutes later I was revvin her up.

True that. Unless of course you run with the SPT from Subaru. Im running it and the only thing I dont like is its an ugly green color

Catback is safe. Downpipe isnt without a tune. Any catback will do for you. Anything from a 150 dollar eBay unit, which sounds good on my friends IMO to a JIC for closer to 1000. My suggestion is look around and get a few options. Then youtube them to hear soundclips.
