according to the paperwork that comes with the AP, you can flash stage 2 with just a new downpipe and the stock catback. anyone ever do this? what were the results?

Tactrix cable costs $90 and will allow you to more safely tune the car just like the AP

New to this forum, new to the Subaru. I like JD was into off roading and big trucks, but with the price of gas going up i had to sell my monster truck 89 blazer. I loved the beast. But it ate gas, 10 miles per gallon on a good day! I rebuilt that blazer from the ground up, sold it at a major loss! Sucks i know. So most of this computer talk is going way over my head! Im trying to grasp it here but let me get this straight to go stage 2 all you have to do is have the time reflashed? Or what? Do they lean it out to increase horsepower? How does it work?

No MBC on 04+ without a pro-tune. Period.

Meaning that the system runs ~14.7:1 AFR(stoich) in CL & then richens up in OL due to the fuel map. However the delay from switching in the +04s means you will be running stoich(lean when on boost, but fine for cruising/idling) for a longer period of time because the boost controller is allowing boost to come on line quicker. Generally this delay is 'zeroed' or at least reduced to bugeye settings when the tuner does his thing, correcting the issue with the delay & stoich on boost.

No, that is the only TBE that will not support a stage II reflash.

BTW, that is the only kind of advise that you are going to get if you want to play the cocky n00b around here. You might not want to call Ray Dr. Phil either, he is an admin.

So then will anyone tell me how the whole stage 2 works yet? They reflash your timing? What exactly do they do? What are the pros and cons of stage 2 components? Is there some other thread that i can read that has all the answers already? Yeah im just a lost little sheep trying to make my way in this world of computer cars these days.

    TBE + engine management

EM modifies things like boost, a/f ratio, etc.

    Pros: more power
Cons: less life (not necessarily is your car going to break, but it's working harder than it's designed for)
