New to the forums

Hello All,

I'm a newbie when it comes to Subaru and the boxer engine. My parents owned an 2002 Outback, but I didn't know much about that car when we had it.

I just bought a 2008 WRX about a couple weeks ago. I have a lot to learn about the car, and I look forward to learning a lot from the forum.

Here's a couple quick snapshots.. Not the greatest pics, but I'm sure everyone knows what a stock 08 looks like

I do have a question, and I hope I don't get flamed for this.. I've heard from some people that a turbo timer isn't necessary? I've always been told and read that it's best to wait for the turbo to cool before shutting off the engine. I've just thought that turbo timers make that process more convenient, especially the auto ones that calculate how much idle time is necessary based on how you drove the car. Is there something special about the WRX that doesn't require the idle time?

I'm not new to forums, just Subaru ones

Since we're all car enthusiasts (and hopefully I don't get flamed for this), I'll also include a pic of my Honda.

the turbos on the wrx's are water cooled and oil cooled. you dont need a turbo timer but if ur impatient and dont want to wait 30 secs. for your oil in ur turbo to get recirculated back into the engine then i would suggest one. but its not a must. what i do i just let my car coast to my drive way for about 30 secs. then by the time im there i just turn it off..

Just read your original post and like you have only had my Scooby WRX for 6 weeks now. It's a fast learning curve cause everyone on the forum wants to help if when you want you can always come and meet my buddies in our forum at the link below we talk about almost everyday and would welcome anyone new to join.

As you can see 200 posts in 2 weeks only not bad ayy

wat up man wat you want to know..... i have drag raced before at the track, infineon raceway.... with my mr2 havent with my wrx yet but soon..

Hello fella, going to Santa Pod and it's a bit a scarey. It's the first round of the UK Drag Jap Championship. I want to do well infact I want to do really well. Last year I raced my MGZS and after one run had to stop cause I did not realise how slow it was ( 18.5 secs qtr )

This year I have around 300 bhp and 4 wheel drive and pretty much apart form brakes and exhaust my Import is standard.

PLEASE don't let me get drawn up against a Vauxhall Nova with a 2 Litre Turbo and front wheel drive
