    Newb(kinda) in So.Fla

Hey guys, glad to be part of the club and on my way to owning a scooby hopefully next week! I'm not really new to modifying cars, had my share of dsm's and most recently a prelude but as it is, i'm car-less and looking I had a couple questions for anyone willing to answer...so if you're bored have at it!

    1. The car i am looking at is an 02 with 80k, running profec-b, TBE, aem cold air, TXS BOV, exedy clutch, and is set up for a Holley 'nos' wet kit( i believe) just needs the bottle....question is, what should i look for given the mods(no2 to be my big concern) for issues?

    2. car is in overall excellent shape, high quality parts, not ebay knock off garabge so i can assume it was upheld pretty well, drove it and was pretty crisp in every way, good boost(safe @11psi), tight suspension no sounds, but at80k i will prob need to do some maint. work...i know the timing belt for sure, anything else?

Any suggestions, let me know! Thanks!

    Cool

    Bogdan,
imho i would prefer to see you buy a stock or only lightly modded scooby
but if its the car you like/want see if you can get a certified subaru tech or mechanic to look at it.

    are you on:
    Dadescooby :: Index
there plenty of scooby guys there who may either know the car and can vouch for it or atleast help you in checking it out

do you have links to the car for sale?

    def. check out dadescooby.com ..

i know a guy on there who has an 02 with over 100k ..

did all the maintanence as the years went by, and his car is still runnning like a champ.

he is a front mount, etc ...

so 80 k for a suby ... no worries my friend.

it sounds like you have yourself a good deal.

but you do gotta remember, he has all this stuff done to it .. he was probably racing ...

HI! thanks for the reply! i haven't checked out the local scooby sites or groups...pretty new to the subaru side of things. I found the car on ebay, went to check it out because it was local. The guy selling it has a good record so thats a plus. I also plan on bringing the car to a subie dealer in miami 2morrow or tuesday. here's the link for the car eBay Motors: Subaru : WRX (item 190218077425 end time May-03-08 09:49:16 PDT)

also- i ran a carfaxand its lifespan 79k out of 80k has been with one owner, so that kind of sooths my nerves a bit. I did leave a deposit on the car so i hope i don't get f*ked but gut instinct has been good so far with my other purchases....tell me what you think of the car from the link!

REALLY appreciate the feedback Weasel and Initial!

    Bogdan,
btw initialscooby is owner on dadescooby.com

i agree car definitely looks clean, (but if i wash and wax i look clean too) but i still have a nefarious history! , i see you owned a few dsm cars
its kinda same deal if you can get a certified subaru tech or someone local who knows his scoobies to be able to help you check it out then i say go for it.

lol i could prob work on it with my eyes shut i like evo's and rex's equally, but my bro had an 03 in 03 and i fell in love with it...plus i'm 23 so insurance on the evo would be more than my car payment

Also- time for a change i guess, haven't messed with the EJ's yet, but have 4g63s and H22a's down pat

No more 4g63 though.... it was a sad day when I heard it was all done. I never owned one but I have a friend who was a dsm guy for a while. I greatly respect the 4g63.

Good luck with tthe scooby. You'll feel at home coming from the dsm world.
