    newbie from Chicago

    Hey all,
I'm a noob as far as being a member, but I've done research on the forums for some time now. A little about me...I live in Bartlett, northwest of Chicago. I have an '02 wrx that just ended its warranty period so now i'm getting ready to start mod-ing. I was in a very long term relationship with someone who used to do most of the maintenance, etc. on my wrx (since girls know nothing...whatever)...now I'm taking the reigns and figuring all this out on my own. So I join with hopes of meeting new people and learning about the best ways to mod this car so I can enjoy this car the way it was meant to be enjoyed.
Currently, I only have a short throw in there and I just had the windows tinted yesterday...lovin' it! I'm about to get a perf clutch installed and go from there.

    Welcome.

Theres tons of info on here of the do's/don'ts

The most common mod is stage 2. Requires a downpipe, up pipe, and a cat back exhaust (if you want it). Then a simple reflash to the cars ECU, most common way to do that is a cobb accessport. Check the sub forums, you'll find lots of info.

    Welcome.

As I said in the other thread (before seeing this one) I grew up in Bartlett most of my life and still visit often since my parents live there. I am in the city at school but there are some good subaru people in the area.

As for modding the bugeye: I recommend purchasing most exhaust components used. It saves money and they all work the same. As for engine management, you can go the stardard Cobb Accessport route, or there are also a few local shops that do cheaper opensource tuning which works very well also.

    welcome to the club..Bugeye FTW!!

I definately recommend getting an aftermarket up-pipe and downpipe it opens up the power on the bugeye along with some EM. It will be a whole new car
