    Greetings All!

I just took delivery this week of a brand-new (black) '08 STI. This seems to be the place to be, so I look forward to getting to know everyone, making some new friends, and LEARNING!

    Thanks!

Welcome - I took a ride in one last weekend, and they really are nice (almost nice enough for me to trade in my '05)! Enjoy

Smile Thanks! A Couple of Questions?

Thanks guys! I appreciate the warm welcome!

If I need to post these questions in another area, please let me know:

    1. Sunroof: Can I? The slope of the roof makes it look impossible??

    2. Heated seats: Can I? It was deleted as an option on the STI.

Thanks again, really looking forward to getting to know everyone and eventually contribute. I am going to get my Sirius Stiletto 2 and my Parrot Bluetooth Hands-Free installed this morning. Hopefully the factory iPod integration and Subaru Amp/Sub module put in if they have time. Still haven't decided if I am going to keep the factory head unit or not. That new Kenwood Double-Din with integrated Nav (powered by Garmin) is tempting.

    Later,

    Rob

some advice... you will get more help if you post pics of the car most of us can't afford (or talk our wives into letting us get)! I absolutely love the new STI. Nice.

Rob the kenwood GPS that subaru puts in these cars is the same as the one you are talking about.

Give up on sunroof aspirations now. a sunroof is either going to ruin your car or cost you 5 grand.

Welcome to the club enjoy your car as it is.

    Thanks

I am not sure that the factory NAV is the Kenwood unit I am looking at, although I have to admit I haven't seen the factory NAV head unit in person. The Kenwood (DNX8120) I am considering supports iPod video, among other things. The dealer told me the factory iPod integration kit DOES NOT work with the Nav unit. This makes me think they may be different units. It's entirely possible that Subaru took the Kenwood, neutered it, and made it OEM though. Can't say for sure, but I didn't want to spend the extra $$$ upfront for the factory NAV when I have a GPS that is good, and the wheels in that package were not all that appealing to me.

Does anyone know if it is even possible to add heated seats, and if so, do I have to replace the seats entirely to get there? I spied a zipper on the backs of my seats and that got my curiosity going. I can't imagine it is impossible, considering the blank in the console for the heater switch is there and the fuse in the block for the heater is missing.

    Thanks again!

    Rob
