    02 Bugeye

just picked up a 02 here in lex,ky and got a heck of deal on it but that would be because of the beautiful "glassbox" tranny sound in it. ANyways still loving the thing anyways and my first mod is ppg gears! anyone has andrewtech build up a tranny for them?

yeah i talked to Dan i think at andrewtech and he gave me a good quote for a new 5spd gear box build with ppg gears but i just don't have the money for the build so looks like 6spd for me.............. Do most guys have any trouble with the 6spds building up to 350whp? cause if so i don't want to do the swap and have a 6spd go out at 100k and then have to swap back toa built 5spd............i Know the only pic i have is of my car

STi 6MT will handle 350whp (and then some)

i was under the impression that they can take much more than that.

usually the ppgs are cheaper than the STI 6 speed ??? i am confused now.

Hence, my "(and then some)" comment - I just don't know the exact limits of the transmission

To give you an idea of how strong the 6speeds are, the formerly Perrin-owned STI with the Tribeca H6 in it is a customer now at my tuner's shop, and it has a non-built stock 6speed in it. It puts down mid-700s at the wheels.

    I'd much rather get a 6speed

yeah after doing some heavy reading ive decided on the 6spd.. for the fact of daily drivability vs. noise and such from the built 5........and the ease of the swap and availability of parts...But yeah building a 5speed is a bit more than the 6spd. swap from what ive read but it seems better for me since the rex will see limited track use. Im now in the process of finding a 6spd in the Greated Ohio Ky area.....WEw hard to come but but patience is a virtue.....or so im told i wouldn't know

    welcome !!

From what I've read and seen, the 6sp trannies are pretty strong. I'm not wanting more then 350 HP so, I'm not to worried, but I love my 6sp Tranny in the Fozzy!
