    Question New guy... New(to me)02 Bugeye ???

Hello, I'm new here, just bought an 02 bugeye, which I've wanted since I first saw pictures in 01. Anyhow, been a subie fan since I was a kid... drove my dad's old GL into the ground at 422,000 or so, had a 96 legacy... upgrading to the bugeye, now. Anyhow, from what I think I understand it's nearly stage 3, out of the box, so to speak. Here are the mods:

    --VF30 Turbocharger
    --GT Spec Header and UP-Pipe
--Turbo XS 4 Downpipe w/ High Flow Cat
    --Turbo XS Full Exhaust
--Pink JDM Original Subaru STI Injectors
--Perrim Fuel Rail & Braided Fuel Lines
    --Walboro Fuel Pump
    --Cobb Intake----Blitz Filter----Saamco Connecting Elbow
--Hyperflow Large Top Mounter Intercooler (question)
    --Forge Diverter Valve
    --Cobb Tuning "exact map"

So here's my question... It was supposed to come with the larger TMIC, but the dude sold it and put the stock one back on, will this kill my car, power, tune, anything? And is it really important that I re-upgrade to a larger TMIC?

The car only has 50k on it, and I'm hoping I didn't get taken to the cleaners too bad... In addition, he threw on a strut bar, turbo timer, gauges, and some other misc crap to make up the price diff because I was pissed. Help please

    Thanks!

welcome - links in sig for you

I would look at getting a larger top mount intercooler, either pick up a used STI unit from someone on the forums, or a larger TMIC from wherever you feel like buying it.

www.gruppe-s.com is where I've bought parts from without any issues

    enjoy your bugeye

Was it tuned with the Top Mount? If so, be careful running it hard until you either get a retune or a bigger top mount.

Welcome to the club. Like others said i would either get a new TMIC and retune, or at least retune it as is if a new TMIC isnt in your budget right now so there is no fear in pushing too hard by accident.

And to the Original poster - What is this "exact map"?

Yes, it was tuned with the larger TMIC, that's why I'm worried about it. He said the cobb tuning map was for the "exact" parts in the car (hence the "exact map" or that's how I understood it), so that's another reason why I was worried, because he changed one of the parts. I picked up one of these:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-07...em280205221896

It's cheap yes, but I'm more worried about the car getting all jacked from the smaller ic. I did some research, and asked around and people said it would work. What do you think?

looks bigger than stock - should be fine

that which you have been calling an "exact map" is what we call a "protuned map", you might consider having the car tuned again to be on the safe side

Cool, thanks Micah. Are pretty much all tune shops able to do the protuned maps? Whats the usual cost range if you know?
