Of course we all do care what people think of us - otherwise we'd be psychopathic, adulterous criminals. The key is making sure that the people you please are those who care about you and your love of cars and driving which you obviously have or else you wouldn't be on this blog.
I'm 45. I simply told wife that I was trading in the Civic Hybrid (which was painful for every minute of every day of the three years I had it) for another Subaru which technically was true . Now we have the Outback for the big hauls and the two boys and the Rex for smaller outings - the boys fit fine. With Winter tires we can take either car to Mammoth for skiing or camping - very practical!
Of course, a minivan would have been even more practical with the extra room for an expanding waistline and family but that can wait until I can't fit in those Nocaro seats anymore!
I would caution you, though: it is a fast, fast, fast (did I say fast?) car. If you haven't had one before (I started with Camaros, then I had a 98 SVT and then a G35), do some reading about paradoxes like not breaking hard when you realize you've hit a turn to fast because you WILL hit a turn too fast
P.S. Crashed my skateboard last week
