Newb 2 Wrx, Need Info, Want To Buy 1.

Hey!

I am really interested in purchasing a WRX. Its probably going to be a 02 or 03 due to my price range. I was just wondering if you guys had any advice on what to look for when test driving/shopping for a WRX. You know usual wear and tear, and any other things that I should know. Any I mean any info could help me. Thanks!

Buy one that hasn't been modified. If you want a modded WRX, do the mods yourself - research the parts, and make sure the mods are done right.

Check the heat shield around the turbo. If it's trimmed/gone, most likely, it had a DP on it. Check the lines going to the BPV. If it's been spliced, most likely, there was an aftermarket BOV on the car. Check to see if the ECU has been flashed.

Other than that, get one with the lowest mileage possible. The more aesthetic appeal the car has, the more chance a younger driver had it before you (and with that, there's a good chance the car has been beat to hell).

Hey, as my self I like 2004 WRX bought it like have year ago. Runs really great no qs. My boy has 2002 same engine but different look that's all. He got it for 9gs with 97,000 miles on it. Now he has 140,000 m didn't even visit shop once. Exept ofcourse tune up and oil change.
