    How do I get more HP out of my 2004 WRX?

    Hi all, great site here!

    I just purchased a 2004 WRX hatchback via a partial trade in on my 2001 Imprezza Outback Sport. Been driving it like the happiest man in the world... sweet ride... but I want more Horsepower and more performance. What would you guys recommend to increase my ride from stock to high performance? What would be the best things to do? I'm willing to dump between $1500-$3000 into this. I know there is an airfilter (K&N?) out there that will give you another 9hp? I really don't know too much about high performance cars (I'm a mountain biker and skiier and entrepenuer, that I do know about ;0)

    Also, you know of anyone here on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada that is handy with modifications of the sort I'm looking for? I just moved to North Island.

    All information will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks guys, Cheers.

    Welcome! Some pix please! TBE and up pipe is often reccomended. Also...for quick easy hp additions....COBB AccessPort....AMAZING =)

    TBE= Turbo Back Exhaust...this is all the exhaust from your turbo to the muffler...hence turbo back!

    The most effective way to increase HP is to go through the stages:

    StageI = EM
    StageII = TBE+EM

    Then, upgrade turbo, fuel pump, and fuel injectors to StageIV

    With $3k to spend on an '04, I'd say go StageII, UP, sways, SS brake lines, Hawk HPS brake pads, sticky tires, and a ProTune

    That'll give you a balance between power, handling, and braking

    That's the way it works - whenever you take the time to pamper your car by washing/waxing, within 24 hrs it gets all dirty again (that just gives you another opportunity to spend quality time with her, though)

    Though, I always welcome pics of Scooby's covered in snow/rain (it's where they distinguish themselves from other performance cars)

    hey.. welcome to the club

    u dont have to go with a cobb for an accessport.. there are others

    for example: XPT, ECUtek(rarely used anymore, but i do), or opensource(for those who really want to get in touch with their cars)

    but cobb maps are an easy way to get started and almost every tuner will tune cobb, not all tuners tune the others!

    but ya.. i recommend an UP pipe, a downpipe, cat back exhaust, drop in air filter, and dont get a BLOW OFF VALVE!

    Hi all, just wanted to say thanks for the help by the way. Got a Turbo back exhaust (This one YouTube - Tanabe Concept Blue Exhaust For WRX) New end links front and back, Cobb Tuning Kit (running on 94octane), K&N filter, and Copper plugs installed. Sitting around the 300hp mark now and handles/goes like stink! Unbelievable that such an increase in performance can be had for just under $3000 Cdn with taxes and installation. Sooo Sweet!!! Anything else you think I should do? It's already a lot of car!

    Thanks again - J
