    hello and a question

First, what bov is best for ruining my car as fast as possible?

Now that that's out of the way, I do not have a WRX yet. I have been lurking and researching on this forum for about a month, and found it appropriate to introduce myself now that I am getting a WRX in early December and like this forum.

I am looking at one at a dealership around my area, an '03 with 53k miles. The car checks out mechanically and is gorgeous. One problem with it though; it has mismatched tires, and when I first went to check it out, they wanted to sell it to me like that (it was a Honda dealership, what do you expect?), so I ran like hell.

The front tires and left rear were worn, needed replacement. The right rear was a newish tire (probably a flat or a tire that was worn too much). I know that this will cause differential damage and such, so I want them to either:

    A) Replace all four tires before I buy the car.
    or
    B) Discount me the price for all four tires so I can buy them elsewhere.

Which do you think they would be more likely to do for me? Should I bring documented back-up that this is unsafe? I was thinking this link from TireRack: http://www.tirerack.com/tires-techpage-1/18.shtml

Thanks for the help in advance, and hope to be getting a WRX soon!

    First of all, Welcome

I would bring supporting docs just in case so you can be like the smiley......."excuse me "

I would try to get them to drop the price so you can use that "money" to get the tires that you want. If you have them replace them, more than likely, you will get the cheepest rubber they can find and you will end up replacing them sooner. My .02

I didn't think about the cheap tires part, thanks for the insight. Also, thanks for the warm welcome, hopefully I'll be in that subie in about 2-3 weeks. Wish me luck!

Ok, found the perfect document to take, direct from subaru:

    http://www.subaru.com/owners/carcare...id=TIRED_TIRES

Do you think non-Subaru dealers will honor this?

Welcome to the Club, and congrats on your impending Bugeye ownership!

I would also demand a discount on the car so you can purchase your own tires. That supporting document from Subaru will be good amunition for your case and they should certainly honor it. Good luck.

im no subie expert, and a newbie myself. but mismatched tires would scare me as they also say never put mismatched tires on an AWD car as it can ruin the tranny. just my .02.

Well that Subie was sold before I could get to it, but while visiting my girlfriends parents in Texas, I picked up a 07 WRX TR with 9k miles for 21k out the door (including taxes, license, title, blah blah blah for Illinois, where I live).

Let me just say the drive home was AMAZING . Unfortunately, I'm gonna wait on mods until winter is over, first of which will be openecu. I've been researching it and I think I'm smart enough to do it (mechanical engineering major).

Thanks for all the content for research and such. BTW, anyone in the Chicago area wanna trade my spoiler-less black trunk for their trunk w/ wrx trunk?

Oh and pics (from my camera phone):

Welcome and the car looks awesome. Congrats!!

Just curious, which car would you rather have, the 03 that was gone when you went back to the dealership or the 07? IMHO I would have gone with the 07 good choice!!
