Had my 06 WRX for a little more than a year now. Got a few bolt-on mods: Blitz intake, HKS downpipe/uppipe, Cobb AP (later this week). I am here to learn from others and maybe contribute something I may know.

ahh shoot... I just noticed buddy. Lose the HKS downpipe ASAP!
The only downpipe that is severely frowned upon is the HKS because it's not either a bellmouth or a twindump/divorced. All it has is a metal plate covering the wastegate.

At higher boost, this will increase your chances of boost creep! On an 06 at stage 2, this is actually more than just a little bit of a chance... I wouldn't be suprised to hear about a boost creep issue w/ that downpipe. Sell it on ebay to someone who doesn't know and get a 4" bellmouth to 3" downpipe! For your sake!

Sorry Sinister I am a little confused, I think my stock Downpipe was not a bellmouth either...would it have the same boost creep issues? I was looking at an older thread about HKS vs ERZ and it seems like a lot of folks don't like the HKS... I am inclined to believe them but I still need to know what the deal is. Oh what about the uppipe? Is HKS lacking there as well?

if you increase boost, and increase flow without allowing for a place for the wastegate gasses to go, then you're running the risk of boost creep. That's one reason to upgrade your exhaust because you're right.. the stock exhaust doesn't have a bellmouth either.
