    newbie here, greetings

Greetings all. I just purchased an 06 STI, which happens to also be my first Subaru. I bought this to be my daily driver, so I dont plan any major mods, but Ill be poking around the forums looking for information on bolt-ons and other suggestions. I wont start asking questions until I search around for a while and see whats available, so I just wanted to introduce myself here. Im sure ill have some questions along the way.

Thanks man...although I already read some of your feeilngs about the 06 facelift from other threads
I actually didnt like the 06 front end either, until I saw a black one (ironically, the one I bought LOL) It hides the grill well, and the smoked headlights look pretty slick with a a black car.

Some things about the car that I like (although Ive only had it a couple of days)
    fast-ratio steering
    nice, torquey powerband
    AWD traction
    strong and positive feeling gearbox
    solid chassis feel
    firm and solid brake feel
good pedal position for heal-toe downshifting

    some things I dont like
steering wheel blocks view of guages
interior illlumination for HVAC/radio controls too dim at night
seats are not firm and lack lumbar and side-bolster support
the gearbox is very positive, but it can also be very notchy
rear wing shakes a little while driving and obstructs vision

It seems like I have a lot that I dont like about this car, but I dont guess much of it is major. I expect the notchiness of the gearbox to go away with break-in. The biggest issue is the seat support, so I might go ahead and put sparco's in it, which will take care of that, as well as the blocking-gauges issue. The illumination and wing are things I guess ill have to deal with.

Ive been "cheating" a little bit on the break-in. Ive been allowing myself 5000 RPM on occasion, and brief moments of full-throttle. Im a power-junky, I cant help it. Its amazing how much torque this car has for being a 4 cyl. This is actually one of the least-powerful cars Ive ever had, but its still amazing what they can do with modern 4-cylinders.

    Thanks!
The pics look a little odd because my camera was having a hard time exposing the black car. But actually, in bright sunlight, the car is extremely metallic. It looks a lot like the BMW carbon black. It almost looks very dark blue in bright sunlight...its that metallic.

LOL, yeah, Ive had (and do have) quite an array of performance vehicles, so I do spend a fair amount of time on forums. It never ceases to amaze me that newbies will post the same freaking questions over and over again. I know it irritates me on other forums, so I tend to have enough respect for people to not flood their boards with redundant questions. Call me crazy

It is RayfieldsWRX's sketch ... it is sort of an inside running gag with our avatars. Just some of the antics that go on around here. Gets to be a lot of fun.

Edit: You have some heavy hitters in your garage (sig) ... post pics please!
